Behind the Screens, every one would think about the happenings of a flashy bollywood or kollywood or utmost relate it to decisions taken by government in principle of general public. But have anyone would try to think beyond that? Yes I know, many would be perplexed with my beliefs. Behind the screens can also be corelated to the dealings done by various Corporates in India. Yes, you heard that right, "India". Today the Indian Market is known to more of B2B rather than B2C, coz B2B would be the governing factor for B2C. But what happens with dealings within B2B segment is drastically different in comparison to B2C. Since B2C is an area which largely remains within the bounds of a Consumer, whether he is an ordinary or an extra ordinary. But in B2B, the logic of 'behind the screens' comes into a broad focus.
I know many of you would not be surprised to see that happening, but the way it is wrapped, all seems fine going with the code of business ethics; Earlier the way of creating an impression on clients is to host them a lavish party either within the town or outskirts, with the unlimited flow of wine and women. But since some business houses which try to come clean on the procedures adopted by them, have started the concept of ethics and corporate governance, which some organisations take advantage to wrap up their earlier practices in a different way.In other words, 'Old Wine in a New Bottle'. But the irony is that Corporates give blah blah of their code of ethics through various media, whether it is a print media or electronic media, while bluntly wrapping up things behind the curtains. If this was the new strategy for corporates then why go blah blah about Business Ethics and why try to implement them in Management Schools. This is why I find the logic of education system in India irrelevant to the nature of work available. What is read theoretically is an absolute contrast of what is done at professional level.
Business Ethics is the one of most important aspects of creating a competitive business environment keeping in mind the larger interest of law of the land. 'Whistleblower' is the person who in the larger interest of an organisation or a nation blows out the wrongdoings within an organisation or outside an organisation. Instead of keeping inview of the larger interest, it is the blower who has to suffer a lot either directly or indirectly. This is the same situation in government sector.
Pepsi or Coke, whatever the procedures adapted by them to keep them untouchable inview of pesticides are revealing a lot. The Govt's stand towards them are still not clear, why? I wish i had the chance of meeting the Health Minister and asking him the same question, why can't they accept the facts found out by CSE or come clear with their stand on this issue...? Why the govt is not accepting to the fact that these giants pose an health problem. Why are they taking the same lacklustre procedure adopted during 'Bhopal Gas Tragedy'? Who can dare to ask the Health Minister, forget asking the Prime Minister!!
All these happens in private corporates too!!! The principle of marketing is swinged to a comprimising way of ethical hacking. Large Corporates doles out huge sums of money for the marketing of their products to various clients which are basically another organisation which may deal directly or indirectly with a common man. Its hard to swallow that, despite all these, ethics of business is spoken at large, its even taught at various B-Schools. If thats the way, business has to go, why try to preach corporate governance or business ethics to the future managers. Generally a criminal lawyer would be the best person who can teach a criminal to commit a crime and escape unhurt, because who else knows the better way of finding loopholes in a system. Similalry many Corporates have begun to find the loopholes within the concept of business ethics only to fulfill their bottom line- Profit!!!!!!!!
Have heard of dealing taking place in various convention halls or conference halls, but what about in 'Golf Course'. DGF 'dealing in golf course field' is the new synonym of business in Indian Market. To add spice to that IIM is planning to train its Management students for practising Golf in order to clinch deal. Atleast by this way we can have some good golfers who can bring some honours to the nation by competing with Tiger Woods.....
